DEZiR is a major industrial project led by Verso Energy and RTE to produce sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) through synthetic fuel technology. The project involves two main sites: CO2 capture at Alizay from a biomass facility operated by Biomasse Energie d'Alizay, and e-SAF production at Petit-Couronne. The facility will process approximately 334,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 annually and requires 380-399 MW of electrical power, with 60-70% sourced from renewable energy. The synthetic fuel will be transported via the existing Le Havre-Paris pipeline to Parisian airports (CDG and Orly). The project represents a €1.3 billion investment with an operational horizon of 25 years and is expected to avoid over 5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions during its lifetime.
