About
Founded in 2023, Crete Valley is a ngo headquartered in Greece specializing in Solar, Biogas, Biomass.
CRETE VALLEY is a European Union co-funded initiative (grant agreement 101136139) that aims to establish Crete as a pioneering Renewable Energy Valley Living Lab. The project brings together 41 partners from 13 European countries including energy communities, industrial partners, SMEs, European networks, and research institutions. It focuses on creating a decentralized, affordable, and sustainable energy system through four Community Energy Labs (CELs) located across Crete. These labs will demonstrate innovative technologies for generating, distributing, and using renewable energy within the same geographical area. The project develops ICT solutions, digital twins for grid management, and sustainable business models while promoting energy democracy and community participation. Implementation sites include Arvi (solar and geo-exchange), Lasithi Plateau (biogas), Mires (hydrogen valley), and Arkalochori (biomass from olive trimmings).
