About

Cronushorizon is a renewable energy company headquartered in Greece specializing in Biogas, Biomass, Hydrogen.

CRONUS is a collaborative research initiative funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe (Project 101084405) involving 13 partner organizations across 8 European countries. The project addresses gaps in biofuels production by developing innovative technological solutions for capturing, utilizing, and storing biogenic effluent gases (such as CO2 and biogas) within existing biofuel production lines. Key focus areas include biological CO2 methanation, microalgae-based biorefining, bioethanol and biomethane production from algal biomass, and integration of microbial electrolysis cells with anaerobic digestion. The project has established five functional prototypes being tested in relevant environments, with research demonstrating potential for 71-94% emission reduction per kilogram of biofuel produced and 5.2-22.01% increased biomass resource utilization. CRONUS coordinates with multiple Horizon and H2020 projects and has been recognized by REPowerEU as a leading innovative biomethane initiative.
