DECODIT is a collaborative EU-funded research and innovation project under Horizon Europe that develops digital tools and services to empower citizens in the energy transition. The project focuses on making energy transition decisions accessible to everyone, including those with limited energy or digital literacy. It operates four residential pilot sites in Greece, Spain, Latvia, and Switzerland, testing 16 innovations across diverse building typologies and regulatory frameworks. The consortium comprises 13 SMEs, research centres, and utilities covering the full value chain from research to end-users across construction, energy services, finance, mobility, and digital services. The project develops the Empowered Citizen App, a natural language interface tool that presents personalized, comparable energy transition options including retrofitting, renewable generation, and financing solutions. Pilot activities include community-owned solar PV plants with virtual net metering, energy flexibility valorization, demand response testing, and living lab engagement with residents.
