Founded in 2015, Drentsekei is a co-op headquartered in Assen, Netherlands with approximately 10-50 employees specializing in Solar, Biogas.

Drentsekei is the Drenthe branch of a cooperative energy movement supporting local, grassroots energy initiatives. Part of the VanOns movement (alongside cooperatives in Groningen and Friesland), it operates Energie VanOns, a non-profit cooperative established 10 years ago that reinvests revenues into regional renewable projects. Drentsekei provides practical support including knowledge, legal guidance, and project management assistance to residents establishing local energy cooperatives and sustainability initiatives focused on energy conservation and local renewable energy generation.
