About
Founded in 2018, DRIVEMODE is a ngo headquartered in Helsinki, Finland specializing in Other.
DRIVEMODE is an EU-funded Horizon 2020 research and innovation project (grant agreement N769989) led by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The consortium comprises 12 partners from 6 EU member states including Semikron Elektronik, AVL Trimerics, Chalmers University, and others. The project develops next-generation electric drivetrain modules designed to be scalable across mass-produced electric and hybrid vehicles. Key innovations include an 800-volt battery system, high-speed 30-50 kW electrical machines, silicon carbide (SiC) inverters, and compact gearboxes integrated into a single modular powertrain unit. The distributed drive concept enables each wheel to be powered by its own integrated drivetrain module. The technology aims to reduce vehicle weight, improve efficiency, decrease charging time, increase range, and ultimately lower manufacturing costs to accelerate EV adoption.
