Duurzaam Amersfoort-Zuid is an independent, resident-led platform established in 2016 as the successor to Stichting Duurzaam Bergkwartier. Operating across the Berg, Leusder, Vermeer, and Bos quarters of Amersfoort, the foundation aims to help make Amersfoort CO2-neutral. Core activities include organizing community inspiration evenings on topics like heat networks and sustainable housing upgrades, providing energy consultations through voluntary advisors, coordinating collective solar panel and insulation purchases, and supporting the Buurt Energie Boost (Neighborhood Energy Boost) program. The foundation co-initiated the Coöperatie Eemstroom ZonneBerg, which manages solar installations like the Juliana van Stolberg sports hall project (2015). Members include energy coaches, climate advisors, and professionals with expertise in renewable energy financing and energy conservation.
