Energie Coöperatie Duurzaam Nijeveen is a community-based energy cooperative serving Nijeveen and Meppel. The organization coordinates multiple sustainability initiatives including Meppeler Energiecoaches (trained volunteers providing free energy audits and advice), heat camera scans to identify energy leaks, installation of solar panels on residential properties, electric vehicle sharing programs, and exploration of biogas solutions for local farmers. The cooperative works collaboratively with municipality, housing corporations (Actium, Woonconcept), tenant associations, and other local partners to achieve the goal of making Nijeveen energy-neutral by 2025.
