About

Founded in 2021, e-SHyIPS is a renewable energy company headquartered in Milan, Italy specializing in Hydrogen.

e-SHyIPS is a 48-month research initiative funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking under Horizon 2020. The project aims to fill the regulatory and knowledge gap for hydrogen-based alternative fuels in maritime passenger transport through five integrated pillars: state-of-the-art analysis, ship design experiments, safety system studies, materials and components testing, and port bunkering infrastructure experiments. The consortium includes universities, research centers, maritime industries, and standardization bodies. The project will deliver pre-normative standards, certification processes, and a hydrogen economy roadmap for the maritime sector to support the International Maritime Organization's 50% CO2 emission reduction target by 2050.
