Energiecoöperatie Dongeradeel is a community-based energy cooperative operating in the Dongeradeel region and partner areas. Founded from a village development experiment, it enables residents to invest in renewable energy and benefit from local, sustainable power generation. The cooperative facilitates solar panel installations on community buildings, provides energy efficiency consultancy through thermal imaging and insulation assessments, and offers competitive local green energy contracts. Revenue is reinvested in community projects improving village livability, including renovation of community centers and recreational facilities. Volunteers assist members with energy contract switching and energy conservation.
