Ecosensys is an ecological research and advisory organization that emerged from The Fieldwork Company (founded 2009), with roots tracing back to 1988 when founder Bob Jonge Poerink began ecological research and advising. The organization combines deep ecosystem knowledge with innovative monitoring techniques including telemetry, acoustic monitoring, drones, camera traps, AI image recognition, and eDNA analysis. Ecosensys specializes in ecological research, species protection and nature management, ecological guidance for large-scale infrastructure projects, and ecologically-informed advising. The team conducts monitoring of birds (meadow birds, coastal birds), bats, mammals, insects, and vegetation across the Netherlands. Core competencies include telemetry (GPS loggers, VHF transmitters, automatic receivers), acoustic monitoring of bats and other species, camera trap networks with AI processing, drone surveying, and GIS analysis. The organization works with ministries, provinces, nature management organizations, and farmers on projects addressing wind energy, infrastructure development, species recovery, and predator management.
