EOLIAN Project

Wind

About

EOLIAN Project is a renewable energy company specializing in Wind.

EOLIAN is a Horizon Europe-funded consortium project aiming to develop a new generation of smart, sustainable wind turbine blades manufactured from repairable and recyclable vitrimer composite materials. The project focuses on creating bio-based vitrimer composites reinforced with natural basalt fibres, incorporating advanced sensors for structural health monitoring and de-icing capabilities. Key objectives include demonstrating the feasibility of vitrimer-based blade manufacturing, developing self-healing and recyclable composites, integrating embedded electronics for damage detection, and establishing chemical and mechanical recycling processes to enable circular economy approaches for wind blade end-of-life management. The consortium comprises ten organizations from five countries, including research institutions, technology centres, and wind energy operators.
