About
Founded in 2015, Eolienne-chamole is a co-op headquartered in Chamole, France with approximately 1-10 employees specializing in Wind.
Eolienne-chamole is a citizen-owned wind park located in Chamole, France, established as a model for community participation in renewable energy development. The project comprises 6 wind turbines, each with 3 MW nominal capacity, for a total installed capacity of 18 MW. One turbine is specifically citizen-owned, financed through local investment with €600,000 contributed by citizens (€550,000 from Jurascic cooperative), €50,000 from the SEM EnR-C and Chamole municipality, and €650,000 borrowed from Banque Publique d'Investissement. Each turbine produces approximately the annual consumption of 2,000 households. The project underwent extensive environmental studies (2008-2014) covering ecology, bat populations, forest habitats, and protected species. Wind assessment was conducted over 22 months (2010-2012) using a 100m measurement mast. The park received prefectoral authorization in July 2015. Electricity is sold to EDF at a fixed rate of €83/MWh, guaranteed for 15 years. Annual monitoring studies for ornithology and chiropterology cost over €110,000. The project demonstrates successful integration of wind energy with local community engagement and economic benefit distribution.
