EPHYRA (European Production of HYdrogen from RenewAble energy) is a flagship Horizon Europe project anchoring the TRIĒRĒS Valley, Greece's first hydrogen valley initiative. Located at Motor Oil Hellas' refinery in Agioi Theodoroi, Corinth, the project demonstrates an integrated renewable hydrogen production facility at industrial scale in South-East Europe. Originally designed at 30 MW capacity, the project has been scaled up to 50 MW. Key objectives include developing advanced alkaline electrolyser technology, creating a digital twin for automated controls, implementing circular economy principles through waste heat recovery and water reuse, and enabling industrial decarbonization. The facility produces green hydrogen for use in mobility, shipping, industry, and synthetic fuels within the broader TRIĒRĒS ecosystem.
