About

ETU Initiative is a government headquartered in Spain specializing in Solar, Biomass, Other.

The ETU Initiative, formally the Interreg MED Renewable Energy Community, is a multilevel governance framework designed to help municipalities in rural and island areas across the Mediterranean region integrate renewable energy transition into territorial planning. The initiative operates through the Ecosystemic Transition Unit (ETU), a holistic model that combines governance, economic competitiveness, and social innovation to revitalize communities and increase resilience to climate change. The project supports nine Flagship Cases and five Assessment Cases—municipalities actively developing renewable energy policies, projects, and community initiatives. Key activities include piloting renewable energy facilities, establishing energy communities, supporting biomass processing, providing training through the Interreg Euro-MED Academy, and sharing policy recommendations and lessons learned across the region.
