About
Founded in 2024, FASTEST Project is a ngo specializing in Energy Storage.
FASTEST is a collaborative research initiative financed by the European Union under Horizon Europe (grant agreement N 101103755) with nearly €5 million in funding. The project develops an innovative fast-track hybrid testing platform that integrates virtual and physical testing methodologies to accelerate battery system research and development. The platform combines multi-scale and multi-physics virtual models with physical testing, utilizing smart Design of Experiments (DoE) algorithms, virtualized benches, and digital twin data. Key objectives include developing physics-based and data-driven models to replace critical characterization experiments at cell and module levels, establishing a comprehensive digital twin architecture for battery system information management, and creating AI-powered safety and reliability assessment tools. The project targets three distinct use cases: automotive, stationary energy storage, and off-road mobile devices, supporting multiple lithium-ion cell chemistries. Work progresses from Technology Readiness Level 4 to TRL 6, with outcomes expected to significantly reduce resource consumption and time in battery testing while improving product reliability and safety.
