FLEX4H2 is an EU-funded research and innovation project (Horizon Europe) running from January 2023 to December 2026. The project develops a safe, efficient, and fuel-flexible combustion system capable of operating with hydrogen blends up to 100% H2 without diluents or power derating. The system is based on Ansaldo Energia's Constant Pressure Sequential Combustion technology and is designed for full retrofit integration with existing gas turbines. The project addresses hydrogen combustion at H-Class operating temperatures with challenging conditions while meeting emission targets. Key activities include combustor prototype development, high-pressure testing, numerical modeling, thermoacoustics analysis, and validation at full gas turbine operating conditions. The project received the Clean Hydrogen Partnership Best Success Story Award in 2025.
