Founded in 2009, Fraunhofer Italia is a ngo headquartered in Bolzano, Italy.

Fraunhofer Italia Research Scarl Innovation Engineering Center is the first legally independent foreign affiliate in Italy of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, founded in December 2009 in Bolzano by Assoimprenditori Alto Adige with support from the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. Operating as a non-profit research organization since 2017 at NOI Techpark, it provides applied research services including concept development, feasibility studies, scientific analysis, knowledge transfer, engineering, prototyping, and proof-of-concept services. The institute collaborates with public and private stakeholders of all sizes on dual transformation topics: digitalization and sustainability. It operates the ARENA application center (established 2019) and maintains close partnerships with the Free University of Bolzano.
