About
Founded in 2024, Gemini Geothermal is a ngo headquartered in Dublin, Ireland specializing in Geothermal.
GEMINI is a four-year cross-border geothermal energy demonstration project aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from heating and cooling across the island of Ireland. The project installs and operates geothermal systems in four demonstration sites: two in Belfast (sports centre and housing), one in Sligo (sports centre), and one in Dublin (university campus). A fifth site in County Antrim focuses on geological surveys for future potential. The project employs shallow geothermal heat pump technology and deeper borehole systems (including a 2 km borehole at Technological University Dublin Grangegorman). Beyond infrastructure, GEMINI develops regulatory frameworks, educational programs, training initiatives, community engagement strategies, and heat resource mapping to build capacity in Ireland's emerging geothermal sector. Led by Codema (Dublin's Energy Agency) with 15 partners from government, research, and community sectors, supported by €20-17.3 million in PEACEPLUS funding.
