About
Founded in 2021, GH2 Project is a ngo specializing in Hydrogen.
The GH2 Project is an international research consortium funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme (€2.2M) and UK Research and Innovation's Innovate UK (€1.06M) under grant agreement No 101070721. The project develops a pioneering green hydrogen production process leveraging solar energy and photocatalytic conversion of biomass and ethanol. The technology simultaneously produces hydrogen and high-value chemicals such as acetal and acetic acid, achieving quantum efficiency over 73% under visible light. The co-production model addresses economic viability by offsetting hydrogen generation costs through revenue from industrial chemicals. The consortium comprises internationally renowned scientists and innovation experts targeting small-to-medium scale green H2 production within 3-5 years, with plans to scale to meet industrial demand. The project aligns with EU Green Deal objectives and aims to position Europe as a leader in sustainable hydrogen production.
