Energiecoöperatie GLOED (Garnwerd Lokaal Onafhankelijk en Duurzaam) was founded in 2016 by members of the Dorpsvereniging Garnwerd energy committee to develop sustainable energy projects with proceeds benefiting participants and the local community. GLOED operates multiple collective solar roof projects featuring hundreds of solar panels installed on residential and business properties. The cooperative works in partnership with Energie VanOns, a northern energy cooperative network, which purchases generated electricity and distributes annual returns to project participants via energy bill credits.
