Founded in 2016, Green Energy Center Europe is a privately organized Codex Partnership connecting industry, startups, and research institutions through shared values for sustainable energy transformation. Operating from Innsbruck, Austria, the center hosts a Living Lab that transforms energy system research into practical, scalable solutions. The partnership manages three research entities—EWest (Power on Demand), HyWest (Power to Hydrogen), and Quantum Computing—which analyze operational projects and develop tools for regional energy autonomy. Key flagship projects include the MPREIS green hydrogen facility in Völs (operational since 2022), the Hydrogen Highway Green Corridor (active since 2014), the Multimodal Mobility Hub, and multiple EU-funded research initiatives. The center follows the Tyrol 2050 energy-autonomous strategy, integrating renewable electricity, hydrogen production, industrial heat, and zero-emission mobility. Though some initiatives like Zillertalbahn 2020 were paused, their research outputs continue informing European hydrogen valley developments. The Codex Partnership operates on principles of responsibility, integrity, and shared progress, supporting vocational training, feasibility studies, and real-world validation of hydrogen and renewable technologies.
