Founded in 2020, Green Independence is a private headquartered in Brindisi, Italy with approximately 10-50 employees specializing in Solar, Hydrogen, Energy Storage.

Green Independence develops the New Artificial Leaf (NAL), a groundbreaking multifunctional solar panel that harnesses three times more solar energy than conventional photovoltaic panels. The technology simultaneously produces renewable electricity, purifies wastewater through waste heat recovery, and generates green hydrogen via electrochemistry. The NAL reduces water purification energy consumption by 20 times compared to reverse osmosis systems and achieves green hydrogen production at approximately €1/kg. The company operates as an original equipment manufacturer serving B2B clients across energy-intensive manufacturing, utilities, water treatment, hard-to-decarbonize industries (cement, steel, glass, refineries), heavy transport infrastructure, and urban agglomerations. The modular, off-grid design enables decentralized deployment in remote locations without grid connectivity. Green Independence is supported by research partnerships with Politecnico di Torino and has received recognition including OPEN Italy 2020 winner, Startup Award for Climate at Ecomondo, and participation in the GreenHydrogenTech Accelerator.
