Founded in 2023, GREENCAP is a ngo specializing in Energy Storage.

GREENCAP is a 36-month EU Horizon Europe research project (GA 101091572) that designs, develops, and prototypes industrial-scale supercapacitors using layered two-dimensional materials (graphene, MXenes) and ionic liquid-based electrolytes. The project eliminates the use of critical raw materials (CRMs) while achieving battery-like energy density, superior power densities, and high cycle life. The consortium comprises 5 universities, 1 R&D institute, and 6 companies across Italy, Germany, France, Ireland, United Kingdom, Estonia, Ukraine, and the Netherlands. Research focuses on material selection, characterization, electrolyte formulation, electrode design, upscaling, and establishing supply chains for sustainable supercapacitor manufacturing.
