About
Founded in 2018, GreenFlexJET is a renewable energy company headquartered in Firenze, Italy specializing in Biogas, Hydrogen.
GreenFlexJET is a Horizon 2020-funded research and innovation project (grant agreement No 792216) that develops technology to convert flexible waste biomass feedstocks—including used vegetable oils, food waste, sewage sludge, and organic residues—into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The project runs from April 2018 to March 2024 and is coordinated by the University of Birmingham. The consortium comprises 12 partners including universities, research institutes, industries, and SMEs from five European countries. The process uses an integrated SABR-TCR (Sorption-Enhanced Anaerobic Batch Digestion followed by Thermochemical Conversion via Rankine cycle) system that offers flexibility in scale and feedstock type while producing consistent, reproducible fuel products independent of feedstock source. The technology is particularly suited for poor-quality waste with high moisture and ash content.
