Founded in 2006 by Mahesh Kolli and Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty, Greenko Group is one of India's leading renewable energy companies. The company operates India's largest clean energy portfolio of 7.3 GW across 114 projects in 15 states, generating approximately 20 billion units of renewable energy annually. Greenko is transitioning from a generation-focused model to a holistic solutions provider specializing in integrated renewable energy storage projects. The company is building 50 GWh of pumped hydro storage capacity as part of a plan to establish a 100 GWh energy storage cloud platform. Greenko is also expanding into green hydrogen and green ammonia production, with partnerships for electrolyzer manufacturing and exports to European markets. The company is backed by GIC Holdings (Singapore's sovereign wealth fund), Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and ORIX Corporation. It competes with conventional coal-based energy on quality, quantity, and cost through digitization and long-duration storage technologies.
