Founded in 2022, greenSPEED is a government specializing in Energy Storage.
greenSPEED is a Horizon Europe-funded research and innovation project running from July 2022 to December 2025. It aims to innovate Europe's battery production by developing green and sustainable processes for electrode production. The project addresses two main drawbacks of current battery manufacturing: high energy consumption and the use of environmentally harmful organic casting solvents. greenSPEED develops scalable roll-to-roll dry electrode coating processes for cathode manufacturing and microwave-assisted plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition for high-capacity silicon anodes. The consortium comprises seven large industry participants, three research institutes, and one SME from five European countries, working to secure Europe's leadership in lower-carbon battery cell production.
