Founded in 2024, GUESS-WHy is a government specializing in Hydrogen, Energy Storage.

GUESS-WHy is a Horizon Europe Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking project dedicated to enhancing sustainability and safety in fuel cell and hydrogen systems. The consortium comprises nine beneficiaries and one associated partner collaborating over thirty-six months to develop and publish seven SSbD (Safe and Sustainable-by-Design) guidelines covering PEM electrolyzer, SOFC systems, alkaline electrolyzer, metal hydrides storage, H2 gas turbines with PEM-FC, and SOE electrolyzer. The project integrates lifecycle assessments, hazard identification, and stakeholder inputs to refine product concepts, reduce negative impacts from the design phase, and deliver validated guidelines bridging gaps identified in previous EU projects such as eGHOST and SH2E.
