H2GLASS is an EU-funded project coordinated by SINTEF Energy that aims to accelerate decarbonization in energy-intensive industries by developing and validating a complete technology stack for 100% hydrogen combustion in glass production facilities. The project involves six industrial demonstrators representing major European glass and aluminium manufacturers, along with research institutions and technology providers. Key activities include developing hydrogen supply solutions, combustion systems, furnace optimization, safety protocols, and digital control systems. The project operates a 2.5 MWe portable PEM electrolyser for long-term testing across multiple industrial sites. Focus areas include safety management, risk-based maintenance, predictive analytics, and technology transferability to other hard-to-abate industries.
