About
Founded in 2024, H2MARINE is a government specializing in Hydrogen.
H2MARINE is a collaborative research initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation. The project brings together 13 partners from academia, research, and industry to design, build, test, and validate PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) fuel cell stacks specifically engineered for marine applications. The primary objective is to develop modular, upscalable fuel cell stacks generating 250-350 kW of electric power, with targets including achieving 40,000-80,000 hour lifetimes and reducing system CAPEX from 1,500 EUR/kW (2024) to 1,000 EUR/kW (2030). The project encompasses stack development, marine integration, system diagnostics, multi-stack architecture design (1-10 MW capability), and comprehensive dissemination activities. Key focus areas include durability under maritime conditions, cost competitiveness, performance optimization, and ecosystem development for scaled hydrogen fuel cell deployment in shipping.
