HAPPENING is a Horizon 2020-funded EU research and innovation project promoting the installation of heat pumps combined with clean electricity production in existing multifamily residential buildings. The project's technological approach centres on decentralised heat pumps shared by building residents, designed for simple installation and adaptability to various building configurations. The consortium comprises eleven organisations from four European countries. Key objectives include demonstrating versatile, scalable, and replicable solutions for modernising building energy systems, achieving over 70% renewable energy use, reducing primary energy consumption by 30%, cutting planning time by 50%, and providing payback periods under 8 years for energy service companies and investors.
