About
Founded in 2024, HarvRESt is a ngo specializing in Solar, Wind, Biogas.
HarvRESt (Harnessing the vast potential of RES for sustainable farming) is an EU-funded research and innovation project designed to enhance the sustainable production of renewable energy at farm level while preserving agricultural productivity. The project addresses the critical need to reduce energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions in agri-food systems, which account for approximately 30% of global energy use. By vertically integrating renewable energy sources such as biogas, biomass, agri-PV, wind, and geothermal into farming operations, HarvRESt develops decision support systems and practical solutions for both farmers and policymakers. The consortium comprises 17 partners from 8 European countries, including research organizations, SMEs, and associations. The project operates through 5 use cases across Italy, Denmark, Spain, and Norway, involving over 200 agricultural and energy stakeholders and reaching more than 1,500 farms. Key outputs include a RES Technologies Library, online mapping tools, 14 practice abstracts, training modules, hybrid renewable energy system designs, and policy recommendations to support Europe's transition toward climate-neutral agriculture by 2050.
