HEDAsupercap is a European Union-funded research and innovation project (GA 101092189) aimed at developing next-generation high-energy-density asymmetric hybrid supercapacitors with dissimilar EDLC-type and battery-type electrodes. The project targets a 8.5x energy density improvement over commercial alternatives. Key objectives include developing sustainable electrode materials, ionic liquid electrolytes, and current collectors while minimizing critical raw materials usage. Demonstration applications include electric scooters for last-mile mobility and hand-warming gloves for sports and leisure. The consortium comprises leading research institutions and includes an advisory board of internationally renowned experts.
