HENRI

About

Founded in 2023, HENRI is a private headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia specializing in Hydrogen, Energy Storage.

HENRI (Hydrogen Energy Reservoir) is a research and development initiative focused on developing and deploying pilot underground porous gas storage for hydrogen in pure form or mixed with natural gas. The project, led by NAFTA in collaboration with research partners, aims to establish criteria for selecting suitable geological structures for large-scale hydrogen storage that can be applied across different European countries. The R&D phase involves testing hydrogen impact on reservoir rock, cap rock, and geochemical reactions to create models simulating hydrogen behavior in real conditions. The subsequent FID (Final Investment Decision) phase includes designing and constructing pilot plant technology, with hydrogen or hydrogen-natural gas mixtures stored in multiple cycles to confirm behavior under real conditions. The project contributes to EU energy and climate goals, including energy security, by positioning hydrogen as a key enabler for large-scale renewable energy storage and integration.
