About
Hydrogen4EU is a renewable energy company specializing in Hydrogen.
Hydrogen4EU is a cross-sectoral, technology-neutral research project that charts potential pathways for hydrogen to support the European Union's goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. The study applies innovative modelling frameworks to assess which mix of hydrogen technologies can best contribute to the EU's current and future energy landscape. The 2022 edition updates earlier findings to account for the progressive phase-out of Russian energy imports and includes methane emissions across full value chains of natural gas and low-carbon hydrogen. The research explores two main pathways: a Renewable Energy Priority pathway that emphasizes renewable energy penetration to 65-80% of final energy consumption, and a Technology Diversification pathway that deploys a mix of decarbonization technologies and saves approximately 650 billion euros in system costs by 2050. The study models scenarios across 27 European countries plus imports from North Africa, the Middle East, and Ukraine.
