About
HyLICAL is a ngo specializing in Hydrogen.
HyLICAL is a European Commission-funded research initiative coordinated by the Institute for Energy Technology, focused on developing and validating magnetocaloric hydrogen liquefaction (MCHL) technology. The project brings together academic institutions and industrial partners including ENGIE, Technical University of Denmark, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, University of Pisa, TU Darmstadt, and Universidad de Sevilla. The core objective is to advance hydrogen liquefaction technology from TRL 3 to TRL 5, increasing liquefaction capacity to approximately 100 kg/day. Key benefits include 20-50% improved energy efficiency, reduced capital and operating expenses by at least 20%, and enabling decentralized production of liquid hydrogen from renewable sources. The technology supports various applications including heavy-duty transport, boil-off management, and integration with existing liquefaction plants.
