Hypergryd is a 3.5-year EU-funded research and innovation action project focused on accelerating the transition to smart hybrid grids through renewable energy integration, district heating and cooling (DHC) technologies, and digital platforms. The project implements interdisciplinary solutions addressing technical, regulatory, and practical barriers to deploying 4th and 5th generation district heating and cooling systems. It combines renewable energy sources, energy storage, power-to-heat systems, and ICT tools to optimize thermal-electric network coupling. The project operates through four Live-in Labs across Europe, including the Sonnenplatz site in Austria with 25 monitored buildings, validating technologies under different climatic and grid conditions.
