Founded in 1978, IEA Bioenergy is a government headquartered in International specializing in Biomass, Biogas.

IEA Bioenergy is a Technology Collaboration Programme set up by the International Energy Agency with the mission to increase knowledge and understanding of bioenergy systems to facilitate commercialization and market deployment of environmentally sound, socially acceptable, and cost-competitive, low-carbon bioenergy systems and technologies. The programme provides platforms for international collaboration and information exchange in bioenergy research, technology development, demonstration, and policy analysis. It operates as a functionally and legally autonomous organization under IEA auspices, with 24 countries plus the European Commission as contracting parties. The vision is for modern bioenergy to be a leading renewable energy type contributing to net-zero energy mixes and circular biobased economies.
