About
Founded in 2021, IMPACT is a ngo specializing in Wave.
IMPACT was a collaborative research and innovation project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement No 101007071). The project aimed to develop and demonstrate a next-generation testing approach for Wave Energy Converters (WECs) using a novel Dual Hardware-In-The-Loop (DHIL) platform. The 250kW DHIL testing platform simultaneously ran structural components and drivetrain tests while feeding real-time data collectively to close the simulation loop, reducing typical test duration by 50%. The platform addressed key subsystems impacting approximately 75% of the Levelized Cost of Electricity for wave energy converters. The project involved five partners across four European countries and concluded on 30 June 2024. Core focus areas included reliability, performance, survivability metrics, techno-economic assessment, and environmental impact evaluation of WECs.
