About

Founded in 2019, Impressive-h2020 is a government specializing in Solar.

IMPRESSIVE is a collaborative research project funded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement No 826013) that aims to develop the first fully transparent photovoltaic devices. The technology selectively converts ultraviolet and near-infrared portions of the solar spectrum while excluding the visible range, enabling colourless and transparent solar cells suitable for window integration in buildings. The consortium comprises leading European research institutions including CNRS and University of Torino, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Tor Vergata University of Rome, G-LYTE, SMART, and Euroquality. The hybrid tandem approach combines UV-perovskite solar cells with NIR-dye-sensitized solar cells. The project targets 14% power conversion efficiency, 55% average visible transmittance, and a 25-year operational lifetime. Implementation could reduce air conditioning energy consumption by approximately 15% in south-oriented facade buildings across Europe.
