INFERNO aims to develop a compact, modular hybrid solid-state Thermophotovoltaic Metasurface Collector Thermoelectric Generator system for efficient waste heat recovery and electricity generation in industrial settings. The system targets heat recovery from high-temperature processes (500-800°C) in glass, cement, and similar energy-intensive industries. The project focuses on achieving 25% heat-to-electricity conversion efficiency with TPV cells and 10% efficiency with thermoelectric generator modules, generating 15 kW/m² electricity. The system is designed to be cost-effective, easy to retrofit, and validated through three pilot demonstrators in real industrial settings.
