Founded in 2016, Kitepower is a private headquartered in Delft, Netherlands specializing in Wind.

Kitepower is a renewable energy technology company specializing in airborne wind energy systems (AWES). The company leverages research pioneered by TU Delft and former astronaut Wubbo Ockels, who initiated kite power research in 1993 and filed the Laddermill patent in 1997. Kitepower's technology uses tethered kites to capture strong, consistent high-altitude winds, converting the energy to electricity via ground-based generators. The 100 kW mobile system was developed with support from Horizon 2020 Fast Track to Innovation grants. Systems feature low material consumption (15 tonnes vs 109 tonnes for solar to power 150 households), small footprint (49 m² vs 3140 m² for PV), and rapid deployment without civil works. Applications include grid-congestion relief, off-grid remote power, construction sites, and defense operations. Strategic partnerships include RWE (exploring integration with renewable portfolio), Ember Flash Aerospace (wildfire detection), Dromec, and eFuelution (green hydrogen). The company holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and has achieved milestones including 800-cycle flight records and UN WFP Innovation Accelerator selection.
