About
Founded in 2024, Les Survoltés du Canal is a co-op headquartered in Saint-Jean de Braye, France specializing in Solar.
Les Survoltés du Canal is a citizen cooperative dedicated to producing renewable energy locally and promoting energy efficiency. Founded through the association of three citizen collectives, the organization operates as Watt O Centre SAS with cooperative governance principles (one person, one vote). The cooperative has completed its flagship project: a 49 kWc photovoltaic installation on the roof of Relais Orléanais, a social aid center in Orléans. The installation comprises 108 solar modules covering 200 m² with annual production of 43,000 kWh. Under a 20-year lease agreement, 80% of energy produced is consumed by Relais Orléanais, reducing their electricity costs, with surplus energy sold through Enercoop. The cooperative raises citizen financing through subscriptions and regional subsidies, avoiding bank debt.
