About
Founded in 2020, Licrox is a private headquartered in Denmark specializing in Hydrogen, Other.
Licrox is an EU Horizon 2020-funded project (grant agreement No. 951843) running from September 2020 to August 2023, focused on fabricating and testing photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells for artificial photosynthesis. The project aims to convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into carbon-based molecules (C1 or C2 compounds) capable of storing chemical energy, with specific targets for ethylene production at energy efficiency greater than 85%. The device features a compact tandem structure comprising a photoanode, semi-transparent organic solar cell, and photocathode, coupled with non-noble metal catalysts for water oxidation and CO2 reduction reactions. The interdisciplinary consortium includes researchers from EPFL, TUM, ICIQ, and ICFO, with industrial partners including Avantama, Hysystech, and an ICFO spin-off working toward commercialization.
