MAST3RBoost is a European Union-funded research and development project focused on creating breakthrough hydrogen storage technologies. The project develops adsorption-based hydrogen storage systems using Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Activated Carbons, improved through machine learning techniques. Key objectives include developing a kg-scale demonstrator, designing lightweight pressure vessels using Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing, and creating standards for scalable production of ultraporous structures. The project aims to enable hydrogen fuel cells for trucks, buses, ships, trains, and commercial vehicles by achieving 5kg H2 storage in a gasoline-equivalent tank. It pursues circular economy principles by using recycled materials from biomass and urban waste, and applies life cycle assessment to minimize environmental impacts.
