Founded in 2020, Micro4Biogas is a ngo specializing in Biogas.
Micro4Biogas is a European research and innovation initiative supported by the EU Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement No 101000470). The project aims to enhance the competitiveness of biogas as a renewable energy source by developing novel bioaugmentation strategies based on natural and synthetic microbial consortia. The project characterizes and selects efficient microorganisms from anaerobic digesters to improve biogas production parameters including yield, quality, residence time, and reproducibility. Work encompasses laboratory-scale validation, pilot-scale proof-of-concepts, environmental life cycle assessments, technoeconomic evaluations, and business model development. The initiative includes multidisciplinary expertise from microbiology, biotechnology, engineering, policy analysis, and science communication across European institutions and SMEs.
