Founded in 2022, Monsoon Wind Power is a renewable energy company headquartered in Vientiane, Lao PDR specializing in Wind.
Monsoon Wind Power is a landmark 600MW wind energy project located on the Dak Cheung Plateau in southern Laos (Sekong and Attapeu provinces). It is the first wind farm developed in Lao PDR and the largest in the ASEAN region. The project features 133 wind turbine generators and a 500kV transmission line connecting to Vietnam's grid at the Thanh My Substation in Quang Nam Province. Achieved commercial operation date on 22 August 2025. The project includes a comprehensive cross-border Power Purchase Agreement with Vietnam and aims to enhance regional energy interconnectivity through the ASEAN Power Grid initiative. The project emphasizes environmental stewardship, community development, and sustainable livelihoods for local ethnic communities in the project area. Financed through a 692.55 million USD non-recourse project financing package, with support from the Asian Development Bank and international lenders.
