Neg8Carbon is an Irish technology company founded in 2014 as a spin-out from Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. The company specializes in Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology that removes carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. Their proprietary electrostatic DAC process operates at low temperatures (65°C), using industrial waste heat to reduce energy costs and environmental impact. The technology is deployed in modular, scalable units designed for distributed large-scale operation. Captured CO2 can be permanently stored underground or utilized in sustainable products such as sustainable aviation fuel, cement, and chemicals. By 2050, Neg8Carbon aims to deploy tens of thousands of systems to mitigate 100 million tonnes of CO2 annually. The company has developed Ireland's first DAC prototype (1.2 tpa) and is advancing toward full-scale commercialization. Neg8Carbon is recognized for awards including the EIC Seal of Excellence and nomination for the Earthshot Prize 2025.
