About
NET-Fuels is a ngo headquartered in Bologna, Italy specializing in Biomass, Biogas, Hydrogen.
NET-Fuels is a 4-year EU-funded research project under Horizon Europe (Grant 101083780) coordinated by the University of Bologna's Department of Physics. The project develops and validates integrated chemical and thermal processes to produce sustainable fuels and energy from biogenic waste biomass. The core technology uses Thermo-Catalytic Reforming (TCR), an intermediate temperature pyrolysis method developed by Fraunhofer, combined with bioelectrochemical CO2 conversion. The system is designed to achieve certified carbon-negative greenhouse gas emissions through fuel production and soil carbon sequestration via biochar. Key outputs include carbon-negative biofuels, biochar for soil enrichment, bio-methane from syngas, and green hydrogen recovery. The project aims to deliver a pilot-scale demonstration plant and validate processes to Technology Readiness Level 5 across six work packages including comprehensive dissemination and business development activities.
