NOMAD - Mobile Bio-Fertiliser Solutions
Thessaloniki, Greece
About
Founded in 2020, NOMAD - Mobile Bio-Fertiliser Solutions is a private headquartered in Thessaloniki, Greece specializing in Biogas, Biomass.
NOMAD is an EU-funded Horizon 2020 research and innovation project (Grant Agreement N°863000) that addresses the challenge of digestate management for small-scale anaerobic digestion plants. The project delivers a unique mobile solution comprising two trailers designed to process digestate into valuable bio-fertiliser products. Trailer 1 functions as a digestate collection vehicle with preprocessing capability, while Trailer 2 is a modular lab-on-wheels equipped with nutrient recovery systems including the novel Struvite 2.0 recovery process and antibiotic removal technologies. The prototype is designed for small-scale applications with a 5-tonne processing capacity. Field trials have been conducted across four EU demonstration sites in Greece, Italy, Malta, and the United Kingdom. The project aims to reduce digestate volume by 85-90% through separation into three streams, eliminate or substantially reduce pasteurization costs, and create new revenue streams for rural and urban anaerobic digestion plants. The technology is tailored to support both rural and urban circular bioeconomy models.
